About me!!

L to R: Me with Ryan, Heather, Amber, Kristina & Nicholas
In San Antonio, summer 2000

First, alittle something about our family. I was married for 15 years before divorcing. I am greatly blessed with 5 beautiful children, ages ranging between 6 years old to 12 years old. Check out my Family Photo Album!

Kristina is my oldest and she has had diabetes since she was 6 months old! Read Kristina's story that was published in the Summer 2000 edition of Insulin Free Times. She is my inspiration! Her bravery throughout her life thus far has been an example to our family and many others! I've enjoyed watching her and the others grow and develope into well adjusted and happy children! They are the light of my life! I enjoy coaching Kristina and Amber's soccer team but haven't had the time for the last couple of years.

Kristina is now in college. She has become a beautiful and graceful young lady. She plays clarinet, saxaphone, guitar and hopes to play the flute soon. She also loves singing, acting, dancing and photography so she is now a theater education major with a minor in journalistm She was part of the JDRF Children's Congress 2001 and went to Washington DC to meet with her congressmen. She wrote a great letter to him about the need for a cure for diabetes and was chosen to represent the Greater Fort Worth chapter of the JDRF because of it. Amber is a senior in high school this year. She plays the flute, loves photography also and gets straight A's. She plans to go to college with Kristina in the fall and will major in nursing. Nicholas is in 9th grade and LOVES his trumpet. He is a very good boy and cares about everyone around him. He is going to church dances now and living the good high school life. No dating yet though. LOL Heather is in 7th grade and plays flute and saxaphone. The saxaphone is what she loves though and plays very very well. She pretty much taught herself and skipped the beginning class because she did so well. She loves to read and has read the Harry Potter serious at least 11 times - only 6 times for the last book so far though. Ryan is in 6th grade. Yep, I have no kids in elementary school anymore. Ryan loves being the center of attention. He has a great sense of humor and a sense of leadership. He's the den chief for our local cub scouts. He's also very creative and loves to build things. He has finally decided he wants to be in band next year and will be learning the trumpet this summer.

We moved from Glen Rose, TX to Oregon 7 years ago. It's been a very good life in Oregon. The kids have grown so well here. The weather is beautiful here if you love the rain. It makes you appreciate the sun when it comes out for the summer. Summers can be alittle warm but it's so rarely above 100 that it's a complete joy! BYU-Idaho is the college of our choice and driving or flying there has been alot of fun. The people in Oregon have been wonderful to us and I can not think of anywhere I'd rather be. I love to quilt, read, work on my geneology, and surf the net, all of which I've had very little time for since we moved here. But I've made some very good friends at work and at church and I know we were led here and have been blessed.

Pooped Out Mom

Alot of people ask me what POM means! It's my handle in the chatroom sometimes and it means Pooped Out Mom! When I first got online and joined my first chat, I saw that "Grey Ghost" and "Jet" were chatting! I knew who Jet was... he was Kristina's Kindergarten teacher's husband. But watching the 2 of them chat, I got the impression that you HAD to have a handle to chat in an online chat room! So I chose one! It was late at night and I was very tired, pregnant with my 5th baby, so I chose Pooped Out Mom! I had a real good time and continued to go back to that chat room, which was a chat room for nurses, in general, of all kinds! They welcomed me and I kept using the handle Pooped Out Mom cause people seemed to remember that! It leaves an impression in your mind that you can relate with! Well, as most handles do, it got shortened to plain and simple POM! I don't use it as often anymore but some people will always remember me as Pooped Out Mom, the mom with all the kids. "How does she do it?" they ask. Well, no secret there. I LOVE my job! I'm blessed with the best kids in the world!
